Skate Sizing
Hockey skates don't size like regular shoes. This guide will help you find your correct size — or connect you with our team if you'd like a hand.

Not sure which to choose? If you're buying skates for the first time, changing brands, or it's been several years since your last pair — we'd strongly recommend getting in touch before you order. It takes two minutes and saves a lot of hassle.
Before you start
The one thing to know about skate sizing
Skate sizing is based on foot length in centimetres, not your shoe size. Most players wear 1 to 1.5 sizes smaller than their regular footwear - but that varies depending on foot shape, brand, and model. A US size 10 shoe is not a size 10 skate.
Width and volume matter just as much. Two people with the same foot length can need completely different skates depending on how wide or deep their feet are. We'll cover that in Step 2.
Step 1
Measure your feet
Use a tape measure or ruler on a hard floor. Measure both feet — most people have one slightly longer than the other, and we always size to the larger foot.
-
1Foot length — Stand on a ruler or tape measure. Measure from the back of your heel to the tip of your longest toe. Write this down in centimetres (for example, 27.7 cm).
-
2Foot width — Measure across the widest part of your foot and write that down too (for example, 10.4 cm).
-
3Your regular shoe size — Note your US shoe size in trainers or sneakers you wear regularly and that fit well. This helps us cross-reference.
-
4Current skates — If you have existing skates, let us know the brand, model, and size. Even if they don't fit well, this is useful context.
-
5Photos (if you're sending measurements to us) — 3 to 5 photos of your feet without socks, from different angles. This helps us understand your foot shape and suggest the right fit width.
Please don't send us a photo of your foot on the ruler. We can't read measurements accurately from images. The difference between skate sizes can be just a few millimetres — write the number down and double-check it before sending.
Step 2
Understand width and volume
Once you know your foot length, width and volume determine which fit and model is right for you. Here's how it breaks down for Bauer skates — the brand we specialise in.
Narrow / low volume
Regular / medium volume
Wide / high volume
Not sure which fit you are? That's completely normal — and it's one of the main reasons we recommend checking with us before ordering online. Getting the fit wrong is the most common cause of discomfort, poor performance, and early boot breakdown.
Step 3 — Optional but recommended
Scan your feet for a more accurate result
Our foot scanner measures your length, width, and volume in one go. It takes about 60 seconds on a mobile device and removes a lot of the guesswork — especially if you're between sizes or unsure which fit width is right for you.
On a desktop? The scanner works best on a mobile device with a camera. If you're on a computer right now, skip to Step 4 and use the size finder below — or come back to this on your phone.
Step 4
Find your skate size
Enter your foot length and select your foot shape to find your recommended Bauer size and fit. This is a strong starting point — use it alongside the scanner result above if you have one.
This tool gives you a starting point, not a guaranteed fit. Foot shape, volume, and personal preference all affect how a skate feels. If you're unsure, get in touch with us before ordering.

Size chart
This chart covers Bauer, CCM, Mission, Alkali, and Tour. Find your foot length in the Length (cm) column and read across to find your size in each brand. The US shoe size columns are for rough orientation only — don't use them to pick your skate size.
The Bauer column is highlighted in blue as it's our primary brand.
